Working Cat Program
This week, we'd like to highlight some very special cats who are looking for their furever homes, just not the traditional kind.
One of the goals of the Ontario SPCA is to find the right home for every animal in its care. Some cats, because of limited socialization, thrive better in alternative environments. That’s why the Ontario SPCA has created its Working Cat Program, giving these cats new “jobs” in safe, caring workplaces.
Working cats are healthy, sterilized, vaccinated, microchipped, and ear-tipped. They are ready to move into non-traditional homes such as:
- Barns or stables
- Auto repair or woodworking shops
- Wineries, breweries, or greenhouses
- Churches, storage facilities, or warehouses
These independent felines provide natural pest control and companionship in exchange for food, water, and shelter.
As the saying goes:
“Adopt a working cat and you’ll save two lives. The cat you adopt, and the one who takes its place in our animal centre.”
Not every cat wants to be a house cat, and that’s okay.
But every cat deserves a home.
Give a working cat a chance to do what they do best.
